About 21st Century Basics
This site is about having a meaningful life. That is a big topic to be sure, which is why you see many other websites listed to the right, both part of the 21st Century family and others. This site will direct you to many topics of interest about finding life, liberty and happiness in this 21st century. It is a work in progress, as are all the websites of the 21st Centutry Basics family.
I am a conservative, Christian, American male. I have lived over half a century all the while growing more conservative, more Christian and more content each day I live. Since having a serious health crisis two years ago, I have less money, less strength, but more joy than I ever possessed before. This web site is my attempt to share with you what I have gleaned over the years that has kept my spirits high.
What follows is my list of “Rules for a Joyful Life in the 21st Century.” While this site covers mainly secular topics, it must begin by laying a Godly foundation. There is no other way.
Seven Principles for a Joyful Life in the 21st Century
- God is our father, our creator, creator of the entire universe. He created us in His image. Unfortunately, we messed that up and we do not have the relationship with Him that He intended, nor is the world as he originally created it. He sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from eternal damnation and repair the broken relationship to the Father. Accept Him, follow Jesus. Love God with your whole heart and mind and honor him with your deeds. Failing to do this will result in a life with no meaning.
- Treat your friends and your enemies as you would want to be treated. Forgive everyone, for if you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven.
- Do not look at what others have or what others do. Status has no correlation to happiness.
- God has given us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As an individual, we do not have the right to take a human life, restrict someone’s liberty, or keep someone from pursuing their dreams. A government does not have those rights either, except under Common Law. As Americans, our forefathers fought for those rights. We have been all too eager let our government take them back. Good government keeps people from abusing the rights of others.
- Capitalism is good, socialism and communism are evil. Socialism is just a polite term for communism. Man does not have the ability to govern others fairly. This was proven by the failure of the French Revolution. It is not democracy alone that grants a free society. It is capitalism that guarantees our ight to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
- Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The free market deadens the corrupt power of money.
- Environmentalism as practiced currently is a hoax and a scam. It is the communism of the 21st century.
To the degree that we have lost our faith in God, and turned to governments to solve our problems, we have lost our joy and happiness.
